Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar
The Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar is one of the most important and beautiful Gothic churches in Barcelona. Located in the El Born district, it is recognized as an outstanding example of Catalan Gothic architecture. The construction of this basilica began in 1329 and lasted until 1383. The Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar was built during the peak of Barcelona's trade and naval power, and many workers and sailors who worked at the Barcelona port voluntarily contributed to its construction. For this reason, it is also known as "The Cathedral of the Sea" (La Catedral del Mar).

The church is open to the public on most days. Visiting hours may vary depending on the season, so it is recommended to check the church’s official website before your visit. Entry to the church is free on most days, but for certain special visits and guided tours, a ticket may be required.
