– €3,780 per month for an applicant with a spouse
– €4,730 per month for an applicant with a spouse and one child (add approx. €500 for each additional child)
This income must come from foreign sources (non-Spanish companies or international clients).
Required Financial Savings in a Bank Account:
– Minimum €30,240 (for a single applicant)
– Minimum €45,360 (for an applicant with spouse)
– Minimum €56,760 (for a family of three)
These amounts must be available in the applicant’s bank account, and bank statements from the last 3 to 6 months are usually reviewed.
How to Prove Financial Means:
– Bank account statements (last 3 to 6 months)
– Payslips or employment contract
– Tax returns (for freelancers)
– Proof of asset ownership (if applicable)
Note: If your monthly income is slightly below the required amount, having higher savings can help compensate for the shortfall.
Limitations of the Spain Digital Nomad Visa:
– No permission to work for Spanish companies → You are only allowed to work for non-Spanish companies. A maximum of 20% of your income can come from Spanish clients, but your main job must not be based in Spain.
– Time limitation and renewal requirement → The visa is initially granted for 3 years and can be extended for another 5 years. After 5 years of living in Spain, you may apply for permanent residency.
– Taxation in Spain → If you live in Spain for more than 183 days per year, you will be considered a tax resident and must pay Spanish taxes (15% for the first 4 years, then 24%). You may benefit from double taxation agreements to avoid paying tax twice.
– Need for a fixed address in Spain → You must present a rental contract or property ownership document as proof of residence.
– Limitations for family members → If you want to bring your family with you, you must prove higher income and cover additional expenses.
