Picasso Museum (Museu Picasso)

Picasso spent much of his teenage years and early adulthood in Barcelona. This city had a significant impact on his artistic growth and transformation, and many of his early and influential works were created during this period. The Picasso Museum was inaugurated in 1963 and was one of the first museums in the world entirely dedicated to this artist’s works. Its opening was made possible through the collaboration of Picasso’s close friend, Jaume Sabartés, and with Picasso’s direct support. This close relationship with Barcelona led to the city being chosen as the ideal place to preserve and exhibit his works. The Museu Picasso is one of the most important and most visited museums in Barcelona, dedicated to the artworks of Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Collection of Works

The Picasso Museum houses more than 4,000 works by Picasso, most of which belong to his early artistic period.
